My Creative Journey
As a child cameras fascinated me. In fact, if you were to watch videos of me as a child, you would eventually find one where I'm asking about the "S's on Dad's camera." Overtime I became enchanted by the way the lens changed my perspective, and as a young adult, I find that a significant portion of my photography reflects this transformative process.

Part of the reason that I fell in love with abstract photography was the way that a simple shift of an image could create something entirely new. The colors, patterns, and energy that were reflected in my abstract photography often started from blank images or simple colors. I took a chance on these basic patterns, and in turn, they presented me with a different perspective.

Even my nature and wildlife photography can be seen as a change in perspective. Whether a photo is taken from above, below, or to the side, my mission is to show something new - to encapsulate the birds, leaves, or light in a way you might not have seen them before.
I'm not focused on capturing an angle that's never been shot, but rather on getting you to think beyond the frame.

I want you to imagine what the lens changed. If the picture were taken from a different angle, what would it have shown? What's on the other side of the photo, where the bird is looking? This is the time to imagine, to think, and to play.

When I create, whether it's with my Sony camera or my pen, I'm constantly exploring the tension between what I see and what the medium reveals. A small zoom or a change in exposure can create an entirely new picture. That's part of why I love photography. My writing serves as an additional perspective shift. When I write, I'm intertwined with the story I'm telling. It's a flowing of words from my mind to my hand, a creative entrancement I can't leave.

My poems are glimpses of my mind on paper. Each one comes from a single perspective, but I am constantly challenging myself to find the others. I hope that as you read and view, you can do the same.
